someone’s son

rage, goddess, sing
the rage of someone’s son
who thinks himself a lord of men,

a lord of far-flung kingdoms
who rages reasons to make
a feast of them, for seers

who dance the circle
dance of carrion birds who
know there is no reason

but hunger, who
feed on what is there,
say nothing. say nothing

to make a song.
sing, goddess, rage.
